Lead all new East Transportation responsibilities across the bakery, co-packer, cross-dock/DC, Sales center, and Direct store delivery network which consists of 5,000+ runs/wk and approximately $150 million in budgeted spend.  Director of Transportation is a member of the East Business Unit Supply Chain team and works cross functionally with East BU, BBU and GB teams to implement highly complex projects.

Location for this role is flexible and can be based out of any BBU location on the East Coast.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  •  Develop and execute key strategic Transportation vision with key 3PL’s (GHI, Saddle-Creek & NFI) to include Transformation scope which includes store door delivery expansion and future autonomous technology.
  •  Hold Transportation Managers and Distribution teams accountable to partnering with the major carriers GHI, Saddle-Creek & NFI to execute the current governance structure: Daily, weekly, monthly run right venues; Transportation Management System (TMS) to bright.
  • Central Dispatch execution.
  • Lead Cross-functional Transport safety team.
  • Own and Grow Backhaul Revenue Program: Lead Sr. Transportation Managers, Backhaul Revenue Manager & 3PL partners in achieving profit targets.
  • Support BU’s external to the East to implement and improve national backhaul revenue program.
  • On-Time Delivery point for Northeast, Southeast and national cake network.
  • Optimize/improve inbound/outbound on-time delivery execution that is visible and enables growth/freshness/unsold goals to be delivered each year.
  • Develop/Lead all Transportation and Distribution leaders both in BBU and 3PL partner organizations in executing on-time delivery programs.
  • Directly manage & develop customer service leaders across the EAST to execute service processes and proactive/reactive service communication.
  • Own and Execute Tractor / Trailer Asset optimization strategy.
  • Span: Direct - 2 Senior Transportation Managers, Backhaul Revenue Manager that cover the East BU geography. Indirect – Plant and DC DM’s / GHI, Saddlecreek and NFI 3PL partnership scope which includes 600+ dedicated drivers, dozens of Transport Managers, 25+ dispatchers and their senior teams of leaders and engineers.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or related field.
  • At least 7 – 10 years of related and varied experience in both managing supply chain and/or manufacturing operations, and project management.
  • A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted (under education and experience).
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization.
  • Experience using tools and software such as MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
  • Ability to travel, visit facilities/sales centers/distribution centers within the business unit.
  • Strong analytic skills with attention to detail.
  • Must be able to plan & accomplish goals with limited supervision.
