Position Summary:

The Director of Supply Chain Strategy is responsible for the successful execution of manufacturing and distribution transformation projects within the region.  The incumbent will work closely with line management across the region, BBU and GB functional support, the Value Chain Transformation Team, and other project teams to transform the value chain. Directly reporting to this position are project management and operations professionals.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Deliverables: 

•       Apply the overall BBU Value Chain Vision and standard technology solutions to develop conceptual designs to generate labor, real estate, transportation, waste savings and support revenue and share initiatives in specific areas of the business unit.

•       Develop the business case to justify the investment.

•       Create functional requirements to be handed off to detail design teams. Requirements would include areas such as route structure, volume/SKU mix, handling unit mix, operating days/hours, design capacity, service objectives, etc.

•       Apply analytical tools to validate designs, highlight and mitigate risk.

•       Review and approve detailed design and project plans provided by support teams. These include building, site layout, equipment design/configuration, systems functionality, timing, transition plans, and revised investment estimates.

•       Provide overall project management of the implementation effort, including task prioritization, resource allocation, coordination across workstreams, issue prioritization, and resolution of operational issues to deliver against the business case.

•       Keep stakeholders informed and solicit/use feedback throughout all phases of the project.

•       Ensure that all project criteria have been achieved to recommend sign off on completion.

•       Implements and maintain business controls and corporate operating policies and procedures.

•  Leadership:

•       Lead and develop direct reports responsible for the project management, design, and operational responsibilities described above. Ensure the success of associates through effective communication, sharing clear goals, expectations, objectives, while providing constructive feedback and encouraging self –development.

•       Work closely with the BU Director Sales Strategy to create a singular vision and plan.

•       Work with BU leaders to identify and addresses opportunities and issues across the business associated with the transformation and to build change management programs.

•       Maintain a high degree of credibility with management and interact effectively with associates at all levels and across a wide range of functions.

•       Communicate openly with full transparency to build trust.

•  Scope:

•       BU supply chain including bakeries, distribution centers, sales centers, and transportation.

•       Product portfolio as it relates to effectiveness and efficiency of designs

•       Service strategy including order fill objectives, establishing replenishment parameters, etc.

•       Implementation of necessary business controls and management reporting to maintain performance.

•       Staffing as it relates to impacted facilities (including hiring, training, transition).

•       Vendor relationships that may be impacted by the project.


Job Requirements

Education and Work History:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or related field.

•  10+ years of related and varied experience in supply chain including:

•       Management of transportation, distribution, and/or manufacturing operations.

•       Analysis, design, and implementation of supply chain solutions

•  Specific experience in:

o  Financial analysis: preparing business cases; applying activity based costing as well as cost allocation methodologies

o  Operational analysis:  use of statistical, simulation, and optimization tools

o  Project management: application of common project management tools including those to understand, anticipate, mitigate risk. Experience with Agile methodology a plus.

o  Supply information systems: working knowledge of ERP and WMS applications. Experience with DC automation a plus.

•  Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization.

• Experience using tools and software such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.

• Ability to travel, visit facilities/sales centers/distribution centers within the business unit. Estimated travel of 50%.
