Position Summary:

This strategy role serves as category manager and intermediary between the brand leaders and the warehouse selling organization. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that the brand growth drivers; innovation, marketing, promotion, and pricing are analyzed and packaged into an effective sales strategy to bring to market. In the warehouse model, the sale strategy role is responsible for creating and cascading the annual selling strategy to the direct sales team and broker network. The sales strategy lead needs to demonstrate competency in category data, consumer insight, and retail strategies. Effective communication skills both within organization and to external customers is essential to individual success.

Key Job Responsibilities:

•       Category Management- Pull data and create reporting on warehouse business

•       Selling Strategy - Create annual sell stories and strategies for brand to align direct sales team and broker network with customer. Leverage insights, category data, innovation, and brand positioning to achieve selling objectives. 

•       Insights - Deliver periodic reporting on category dynamics and SKU/brand performance.  Develop data package that not only explains what is happening but why its occurring.

•       Pricing/Promotions- Align with Finance on promotional performance and inform sales team and brokers.  Obtain broker data to create efficient promotional reporting.

•       Annual Plan - Collaborate on annual business plan by providing insights, and historical customer data.  Align on key performance indicators such as share, innovation velocities, promotional frequency.

•       Customers - Provide ad hoc materials to sales team and participate on sales calls as appropriate.

Job Requirements

Key Behavioral Competencies:

•       Must have excellent written, verbal, presentation and negotiating skills.

•       Strong project management skills are required.

•       Must have strong analytical skills including financial reporting.

•       Must have received all prescribed doses of COVID-19 vaccine (2 for Moderna/Pfizer; 1 for J&J) and booster shots at the appropriate times prior to first day of work.

Education and Work History:

•       Bachelor’s level degree. A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted.

•       5 – 7 years of sales experience working in CPG.
