Position Summary:
The Senior Manager of Transportation (SMT) will be an integral part of the leadership team and be tasked with delivering transportation savings while improving the performance of the network. The SMT will have responsibilities across the plant, co-packer and cross-dock/DC network to oversee and lead the transportation strategy that includes (but is not limited to): 3PL management; route analysis and recommendations; safety programs and KPI/metric implementation.
The SMT is responsible for the overall budgeted spend within the region and the overall performance of 2,500+ runs per week. In addition to working with the business unit operations leadership, the SMT will work with the SML’s (Senior Managers of Logistics), as well as, corporate transportation organization to develop and implement projects that improve performance.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead all new Northeast Transportation responsibilities across the plant, co-packer and cross-dock/DC network which consists of 2,500+ runs/wk and approximately $100 million in budgeted spend.
  • Partner with GHI to execute the current governance structure:
    Daily, weekly, monthly run right venues
  • Transportation Management System (TMS) to bright.
    Central Dispatch execution
  • Lead Cross-functional Transport safety team
  • Partner with NFI to optimize:
  • Cake network which has a geography down to Florida and out to Illinois
  • CPA network out of Moran which is the 2nd largest traffic center in the Northeast
  • Backhaul Revenue Program owner:
  • Lead Backhaul Revenue Manager in achieving annual profit targets
  • Support BU’s external to Northeast to implement and improve national backhaul revenue program
    On-Time Delivery point for Northeast and cake network.
  • Optimize/improve inbound/outbound on-time delivery execution that is visible and enables growth/freshness/unsold goals to be delivered each year
  • Develop/Lead all Distribution leaders both in BBU and 3PL partner organizations in executing on-time delivery programs
  • Directly manage & develop North, Metro and Mid-Atlantic customer service leaders to execute service processes and proactive/reactive service communication
  • Tractor / Trailer Asset optimization

Job Requirements

Education and Work History:

  • Bachelor's Degree required in transportation, supply chain or logistics and/or Bachelor’s Degree in management related field. A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted.
  • 5-7 years of increasing responsibility and leadership in transportation
  • Previous experience in managing multiple sites providing both in-bound and out-bound services
  • Experience with E-logs, DriveCam, dynamic routing tools, Transportation Management System (TMS) is a plus
  • Experience working with & managing 3rd party logistics providers
  • Planning and organizational skills; basic proficiency in MS Office and a TMS
  • Demonstrated ability to effect cost reductions and/or improvements to asset-based transportation network across multiple facilities
