Position Summary:

As a regional manager for Bimbo Bakehouse, this position is accountable for the strategic effective management of the in-store bakery business and sells at the customer HQ and divisional level at various key accounts in the Western US region.  Accounts include Albertsons/Safeway corporately/western divisions, as well as other grocery accounts in the region including WinCo, Stater Bros, SaveMart, Raley’s, Basha’s, Smart & Final, Sprouts and others.  Ensures the development of strong mutually beneficial relationships throughout Bimbo Bakehouse, but most importantly with our customers and brokers.  Develops and executes customer-specific growth strategies while analyzing data to create fact-based presentations that drive profitable sales growth. 

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops a strategic partnership with Customer that delivers on Bimbo Bakehouse net sales, profitability, market share targets and aligns with customers financial metrics.
  • Develops and implements promotional activity to fully maximize all trade promotions and maintain competitive advantage within account.
  • Leads the customer selling aspect in the development, implementation, and execution of strategic priorities.
  • Leverages insights and analytics to identify market gaps and develop new programs that meet customer/consumer needs.
  • Advocates for customer to ensure the customer receives appropriate levels of organizational support to meet our mutual objectives.
  • Works closely with Bimbo Bakehouse Marketing Team on the development of customer specific brand growth initiatives as well as customers’ own brands.
  • Maintains and regularly updates analysis of key competitors’ activities and their impact on all brands on a market-by-market basis.
  • Additional duties as assigned
  • Uncover opportunities for growth at new accounts
  • Managing food brokers in geographical region and developing customized account strategies to maximize sales
  • Ownership of P&L for each customer – develop pricing and promotional programs
  • Works closely with demand planning to establish volume forecasts at each account.
  • Attend and manage regional and customer food shows
  • Ability to travel as required

Education and Work History:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Marketing or related field
  • A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted.
  • Category management experience
  • History of growth experience within their field

Ideal candidate will possess:

  • 5 or more years consumer product account experience in retail food sales (preferably perishable)
  • Experience with the customers HQ/divisional Office, understands the culture and what is required to become a Trusted Partner.
  • Proven track record of sales results with strong customer analytic and communication skills (written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills)
  • Requires excellent presentation and written/oral communication skills, as well as, the ability to effectively negotiate and influence others.
  • Strong ability to lead with and without direct authority; collaboration with cross-functional business partners is highly critical.
  • Computer skills and proficiency, specifically PowerPoint, Excel, and Word is required
  • 35-40% travel
