Position Summary:

Ensure the timely, accurate and efficient movement of product through the supply chain by leading the efficient and effective operation of distribution centers. The primary focus of this position is safety, customer service, cost management, product accountability, product carrier control and operational discipline. This position will have direct responsibility over areas of the logistics network in the Central Business Unit.

Key Job Responsibilities:

•       Areas of responsibility include the operations of the Janesville, WI distribution center, Cedar Rapid, IA Distribution Center and the Riverside, MO distribution center.

•       Oversee, manage and monitor the performance of all third-party logistics providers operating distribution centers in the designated geographic area of responsibility.

•       Ensure proper product accountability processes are being followed and monitor results to identify and resolve any issues with shipping accuracy.

•       Monitor performance metrics relative to cost and service level and adjust as necessary to lower cost and meet service expectations.

•       Ensures that the standards/guidelines for the measurement of 3rd party distribution and transportation areas are in place and reviews performance against KPIs. 

•       Interact regularly with bakery management to facilitate cooperation and joint efforts to optimize the supply chain and to discuss and resolve any issue or concerns.

•       Work closely with Sales Management to ensure that Sales center shipping is performing effectively, including product accountability processes in place, service levels meeting the needs of the business and costs as low as possible.

•       Interact consistently and routinely with Sales Management to facilitate cooperation and joint efforts to optimize the supply chain and to challenge opportunities at the distribution centers.

•       Work closely with Transportation management to support the development and execution of the overall transportation strategy.

•       Ensure quality, effective distribution processes are in place for timely dispatching of transports daily.

•       Work closely with sales to determine delivery requirements and monitor actual performance to identify any gaps or issues.

•       Work collaboratively across all business unit to develop and execute optimal SC processes that will support BBU unique business strategies

•       Responsible for collaborating with the leadership team with a consumer-centric focus through Supply Chain (SC) responsibilities.

•       Assure the safety of all personnel and compliance with all State/Federal regulations applying to logistics activities including DOT, FDA, and OSHA.

•       Take on special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education and Work History:

  •  Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Logistics or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in supply chain, transportation or logistics preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted.
  •  Previous supervisory/management experience in a transportation environment is preferred.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills, and excellent math skills.
  • Must possess computer knowledge in Microsoft office applications.
  • Able to work in a self-directed team environment and be highly participative
  • Bachelor's Degree required in Transportation, Supply Chain or Logistics. A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted.
