Position Summary: The Sr. Manager of Transportation Planning is responsible for leading the North American Control Tower that on a daily basis is generating transportation plans for all GB operations in the same geography via the Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) system.  As such, this position oversees the generation of optimal, but viable plans while ensuring that OTM is providing maximum effectiveness to all its internal and external users.

Key Job Responsibilities:

•               Ensures that all and every transportation plan that is communicated to the field and the carriers meets the highest standard of optimization and viability criteria.

•               Defines the areas of responsibilities of all Transportation Supervisors and Planners in the Control Tower and approves the working schedule generated by the supervisors to ensure full and effective coverage of all Business Units & Divisions in North America.

•               Provides direction to Supervisors on how to effectively and efficiently use OTM to come up with bulk plans, review and adjust daily shipments according to the characteristics and conditions of a BU or division.

•               Oversees the timely tendering of all loads to company operations and carriers.

•               Provides guidance for issue resolution.

•               Identifies, develops, and assists in the implementation of waste elimination initiatives, such as backhauls, while maintaining high service and response levels to the field.

•               Supports all transportation network analysis efforts.

•               Ensures that every member of the control tower is trained according to his/her responsibilities and performing up to the standard.

•               Fulfills reporting needs to provide visibility to execution compliance from the field and carriers.

•               Identifies opportunities to improve or streamline processes related to, or functionality within, OTM.

•               Defines what carriers to connect via EDI and coordinates respective IT departments to establish the connection.

•               Performs compliance audits regarding OTM processes and data maintenance

•               Manages and controls the roles and accessibility of all OTM system users in NA.

•               Supports regular RFP activities such as bid creation, carrier negotiation, selection, and implementation.

•               Monitors and analyzes OTM KPI’s.

•               Aligns with Grupo Bimbo Global OTM Cloud strategy.

•               Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Education and Work History:


•               Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management (SCM), Transportation, Logistics, Business or related field preferred. A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work. 


•               Five (5) or more years of experience in transportation/logistics industry

•               At least two (2) years’ experience in a logistics environment (tendering loads, managing transport routing schedules through IT based model, cost efficiency, and carrier performance experience preferred)

•               Two (2) to Four (4) years’ experience utilizing a major TMS platform; OTM or G-Log preferred

•               Knowledge of SQL Programming and relational data base/developing test plans and configuring a TMS.

•               GUI or Web Design configuration experience

•               Exposure and knowledge of all facets of logistics operations.

•               Knowledge of DOT regulations
