Bimbo Bakeries USA currently has an opening for Loading Dock Foreperson at the San Luis Obispo, CA Bakery. The Loading Dock Foreperson is responsible for leading an assigned work group in performing distribution related job functions.  They ensure that all product is sent to the right place, representing the bakery in communicating with distribution and sales to solve distribution problems. Candidates must be willing and able to work in a fast paced manufacturing environment.  The Loading Dock Foreperson will train employees to adhere to quality, safety, quantity and timeliness standards for each job performed. The Bakery operates 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Loading Dock Crew Lead Key Job Responsibilities: 

•       Check and verify outgoing loads to ensure accuracy. Note any discrepancies.

•       Ensure that all trailers are ready and sealed by their scheduled times.

•       Communicate in a clear and professional manner with BBU sales, distribution, and other department leads.

•       Maintain a clean, well-organized staging area. Direct the staging of loads to minimize the loading times and maximize product flow.

•       Use a computer for: Microsoft Office, writing emails, and entering information into a database.

•       Supervise staff designating work assignments, providing instruction and training, reviewing completed work, and providing performance feedback. Help with crew scheduling.

•       Ensure that staff strictly adheres to all safety rules, guidelines, and procedures.

•       Be willing and able to operate a fork lift.

•       Follow all instruction from leadership with a positive attitude and energy.

•       All physical duty capabilities required of you are the same as the loaders.

•       Must be flexible in scheduling and willing to work holidays, weekends, etc;

•       Ensures compliance with GMP’s, Food Safety, Personal Safety and Quality processes and procedures.

•       Tasks require standing for long periods, stooping, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking and hearing.

•       Must be capable of exerting necessary force to move equipment on the loading dock.

•       Mental and visual ability to identify various products and general instructions, gauges, scales, thermometers, etc. 

•       Must be able to do basic math calculations to count, verify, add, subtract, multiply and divide.

•       Performs all other related assignments and training of other employees as required by the Supervisor.

Schedule Hiring for:

  • Days: Sunday - Saturday; Days off will vary
  • Shift Start Time: 2am-8am; Start time will vary
  • Overtime may be needed

Job Requirements

Loading Dock Crew Lead Qualifications:

•       High School Diploma or GED is preferred but not required

•       A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted.

•       May include attending seminars presented by trade associations, allied groups, or colleges to become knowledgeable of total process. 

•       Training provided in OSHA regulations, M.S.D.S., Lock-Out and Tag-Out, Confined Spaces and procedures for dealing with emergencies. 

•       Some analytical ability required in order to gather and interpret data in situations where the problems are somewhat complex in dealing with people, procedures and equipment.

•       Work involves the constant direction of others to plan, coordinate, check or instruct.
