This position is responsible for driving the growth of the Sweet Baked Goods and Breakfast categories for Bimbo Bakeries and its trade customers. This person interfaces with many key organizational functions – Brand Teams, Field Category Management, Sales, Revenue Growth Management and Shopper Marketing – to design, facilitate and implement national Category Management Strategies, processes and tools for field sales and our retail customers. Additionally, this role will:

  • Become a subject matter expert in Sweet Baked Goods and Breakfast.

  • Identify and understand industry, category, shopper and consumer trends to proactively seek and recommend solutions for major customers.

  • Integrate category management and shopper insights information into customer business planning materials.

  • Development of category management strategies to develop retail solutions specifically addressing assortment and shelving.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serves as liaison between field category management / retail customers and HQ brand teams to facilitate the field execution of category initiatives with major customers.

  • Creates and delivers actionable category sales stories and strategies with solutions for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Consults closely with brand teams to secure alignment around retail environment realities prior to innovation launches.

  • Works with National Space Manager to convert category insights into strategic product and assortment prioritization based on category contribution and strategic brand initiatives.

  • Analyzes performance of the brands and new items to assess the effectiveness of the business strategies and develop performance benchmarks.

  • Effectively designs and integrates category management strategy into the business planning process.

  • Provide guidance, leadership and category/brand expertise to field category management.

  • Assists in training, distribution and execution of category management tools with field.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Management or related field preferred. A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted.

  • 4-5 years of consumer packaged goods sales or marketing experience.

  • Solid knowledge of category management, marketing and sales principles.

  • Ability to set strategic and tactical priorities with multiple stakeholders competing for your time.

  • The ability to decompose a business situation and apply the appropriate category management tools to maximize business results.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally on a remote team.

  • Excellent communication and people skills.

  • A creative thinking with the ability to weave together insights using multiple sources.

  • Proficient in MS Office, IRI and/or Nielson.

  • Expertise with retailer specific programs such as 84.51◦ Stratum or Symphony Retail and space management software such as JDA or Apollo a plus.

  • Experience working on marketing research projects a plus.

  • 15% travel.
