The Manager, Quality Food Safety builds the capability of co-manufacturers and GB foreign facilities to achieve the highest levels of food safety and quality on a sustainable basis.

Key Job Responsibilities:

 Co-Manufacturers:

  •  Provides training, tools, techniques, coaching, and mentoring to assure all co-manufacturers are fully capable of achieving Quality & Food Safety expectations.
  • Collaborates, as needed, to develop the Quality and Food Safety capabilities of co-manufacturers to enable them to drive towards zero Quality and Food Safety incidents.Works with BBU co-manufacturer management to establish specific accountabilities for co-manufacturers.
  • Develops systems and reports to monitor Quality & Food Safety KPI’s and drive improvements.
  • Performs data analysis trending reports for BBU co-manufacturers.
  • Supports co-manufacturers during implementation of new processes and policies such as GFSI, Scoring, TraceGains, Finished Product Testing, etc.
  • Conducts periodic audits and risk assessments of co-manufacturers.
  • Provide guidance, coaching and direction to co-manufacturers during quality failures, regulatory inspections, food safety incidents etc. to assure proper investigation, root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Participates in investigations to determine and address root causes during special situations, quality failures, regulatory inspections, vendor (ingredient & packaging) related incidents, etc to assure proper investigation, root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Promotes and supports the use of quality tools such as SPC, Kaizen, 5-S, Problem Solving, etc.
  • Oversees programs to reduce or eliminate consumer complaints in co-manufacturers (Quality and Food Safety).
  • Follows up on corrective action plans (BBU, customer complaints, consumer complaints and quality trends).
  • Assists BBU co-manufacturing management team and co-manufacturers in identifying and resolving quality issues.
  • Is aware of current food safety and quality issues through finished product scoring, bakery data and consumer complaints.
  • Is an active participant in BBU’s quality food safety policies and programs.
  • Manages the annual Co-Manufacturer Quality Food Safety National Meeting

BBU FSVP Importer:

  •  Works with BBU & GB Import group to determine manufacturing facilities and establish specific accountabilities and requirements for applicable GB foreign facilities.
  • Monitors required documents annually to assure compliance with FDA’s FSVP regulation.
  • Works with applicable GB FSVP Import facilities for approval to ship to the U.S.
  • Travel: 75%. Occasional weekend travel may be necessary.

Job Requirements

  • BS degree, in Food Science or related major preferred

  • Seven (7) years minimum experience in the food industry, with five (5) years in Food Safety, Sanitation Quality Assurance, Quality Systems, Total Quality and/or Food Industry Lab Analysis with at least 2 of those years in a management role.

  • Bakery operations management experience a plus.

  • HACCP and PCQI Certified

  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus

  • Knowledgeable of federal and state regulations, 6 sigma, AIB and GFSI Standards.

  • A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted.
