A Sanitation Associate performs functions that combine traditional custodial services with equipment specific cleaning requirements. Includes routine custodial services, in addition to major functional cleaning/sanitizing, and includes building and grounds of facility.

 
Seasonal Sanitation Associate Responsibilities:

§  Ensures and maintains a safe environment and documentation compliant with all BBU, OSHA, and/or governmental regulations, policies, and procedures

§  Follows Food Safety & Food Quality Plans to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Standards, the SQF system and other 3rd party audits

§  Performs cleaning of equipment services using appropriate procedures and inspections while ensuring that all safety guards removed are properly replaced after servicing.

§  Performs all needed sanitary requirements of equipment, outside grounds, restroom facilities, and of trash compacting and removal from production areas.

§  Responds to breakdown in a prompt and appropriate manner to minimize impact of non-sellable product that may cause interruption to the production functions.

§  Sweeps, wipes, scrubs, vacuums, sanitizes, washes, and picks up as required to keep building, grounds and equipment, clean and sanitary to provide an environment to produce wholesome food products meeting company, regulatory and customer standards.

§  Utilizes chemicals in cleaning/sanitation processes using labels, SDS (Safety Data Sheets) sheets, in accordance with company Hazard Communication Program.

§  Ensures safe and proper use of tools and equipment; ensures hand tools are free of defects; maintains neat and orderly work area, including proper storage/disposal of solvents, paints, and other cleaning chemicals in accordance with OSHA, EPA and other regulatory agencies and company policy.

§  Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by supervisor

Job Requirements

Sanitation Associate Qualifications
§  High School Diploma or GED and basic math skills are preferred.
§  Ability to comprehend label instructions, SDS and other safety warnings and chemical mixing formulations.
§  Knowledge of basic sanitation principles in a food processing facility, including knowledge of FDA, USDA, EPA is preferred.
§  Ability to work and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequent changes
§  Physical requirements: ability to lift 50 pounds, stand and/or stoop, bend, and climb for prolonged periods of time, perform repetitive motions, and work in an environment with varying temperatures
§  Must have good hand-eye coordination and possess motor skills enabling mobility and quick reflexes, as well as dexterity in ceiling height areas.
§  Must have visual/hearing ability sufficient to recognize or detect warning devices/signs.
§  A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted.
