Oversees multiple Project Managers in the delivery of complex projects and programs across organizational boundaries. Project and program execution involves external vendors and suppliers, multiple areas of the business and global IT, and has a focus on enterprise-level Platform and End User Services across hundreds of sites distributed across the U.S. and Canada, and tens of thousands of end users.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Maintain a strong base knowledge of our business, organization, and strategy.
Works closely with peer PMO managers in the continuous development and expansion of the PMO Center of Excellence.
Directs the assignment, development, and performance of PMO project managers, who are responsible for the execution and delivery of each project within their portfolios.
Ensures all practices and policies of the PMO are followed, or modified if appropriate, and leads by example through use of the same.
Responsible for establishing and standardizing enterprise-wide project management practices.
Drive a culture of urgency and on-time, on-budget project delivery.
Drive close collaboration and partnership with peer PMO and IT managers.
Communicate with key stakeholders and executive management to secure continuous support and commitment.
Represent the organization to executive leadership, providing visibility on major initiatives
Proactively manage conflict and negotiate resolution.
Evaluate and analyze completed projects to identify areas of improvement and opportunity.
Ensure quality of projects delivered through constant monitoring, control, and audit of processes and procedures being used.
Ensure issues and risks are identified early, determine potential mitigation and contingency options, assign resources, communicate status, and track and manage to resolution.
Identify and communicate resource requirements to ensure projects are properly staffed with skilled associates, and work with functional managers to mitigate potential resource gaps and constraints.
Hire, educate, coach, and mentor team members and project managers in project management principles, processes, standards, and best practices.
Continues professional development for self and direct reports through educational opportunities, seminars, conferences, etc.
May directly serve as project manager to specific project efforts.
Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative or business discipline. A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted.
Project Management Institute certified Project Management Professional desired.
Proficient with PPM tools, including Planview PPM Pro.
